It’s time to end one story to welcome a new one

2024 a year of sacred memory, dreaming dragons, and original prayer

Week 16--in which we realize it's time to complete one story, so something new can arrive and begin to sing

Friends, soul writers, mystics, witches, and lovers of prayer,

On May 5, the third intensive in The Witch Sequence will come to completion. For 77 days, we have walked the third circuit of the ancient womb labyrinth path to awaken, remember, and trust the third of our original WitchArt gifts—Original Prayer.

And what a walk it has been! Full of surprises.

I’m a prayer artist. I love prayer. I live prayer. I write prayers. I even have the audacity to redefine prayer. My whole life is prayer. And yet. And yet. As this glorious intensive comes to a close, I find myself discovering depths about prayer that I didn’t know. Or didn’t know I knew. Bone deep prayer memories. And I find myself falling even more in love with prayer. Prayer is revealing herself to be more magical and ecstatic than even I realized.

But there’s also a wee part of me that is slipping into mourning. I do not want this intensive to end!

But end it must. Because starting next week and through the summer, Cathy Stevens Pratt and Emma Kupu Mitchell and I will be designing and developing the 4th intensive to awaken, remember, and trust the 4th WitchArt gift—Myrrhophore Anointing.

From scratch.

Because there are no books on Myrrhophore Anointing. There are plenty of books and courses on oils and their uses. But none that weave together:

  • the oils and their ancient uses
  • what is the morphic memory of the 7-circuit labyrinth showing us about the original purpose of anointing
  • how sacred oils, invocations, prayers, vision, and movements coalesce to create anointing
  • why anointing is “the sacrament of re-membering”
  • what happens when we anoint ourselves in front of a mirror
  • who is the one who anoints
  • the ceremony of anointing
  • how anointing serves the mysteries of life, death, and rebirth
  • how anointing is now gathering the mystic witches who want to remember who we really are
  • how old is the Myrrhophore lineage; who were the Myrrhophore Witches
  • who was the Magdalen; how did she anoint her Beloved
  • how can we tune into the voices of the plant medicines, the ancient Myrrhophore Witches, and the Goddesses of Anointing for guidance

Do you see!

Myrrhophore Anointing is so deep and so vast and so old and so holy that we three who know the time has come to create this anointing intensive, feel humbled by the request. Or, I should say, command.

If we hadn’t already partnered to create ART 1 on Intuition, ART 2 on Threshold Crossing, and ART 3 on Original Prayer, I don’t think Emma, Cathy, and i could do this. But we have created those first three intensives, and we are embodying those first three of seven WitchArt gifts, and so, ready or not, we have said yes to this command.

We know we must. The wasteland won’t dissolve on its own. Right now, it is putting up quite a fight to continue to hold its power of fear and domination over everyone and everything. But the cracks are getting bigger. Hope is spreading. As more and more of us remember that we once were witches revered for our sacred WitchArt gifts, we find ourselves knowing there is another way to live.

Like Original PrayerMyrrhophore Anointing is a bone-deep memory that bypasses our oh-so-well trained, linear-conditioned thinking minds.

I realized this when I first began to read everything I could find on Mary Magdalene nine years ago. All the books described her as a goddess of anointing. Anointing Yeshua is central to his story, but also to hers. It is anointing that made her The Magdalene.

And yet, nowhere in any of those books is there a description of how she anointed, why she anointed, or exactly when she anointed. And no discussion, not even speculation, on who taught her how to anoint. In addition, no one seems to be certain what oils she used or if she used different oils for different purposes.

Magdalen is clearly seen as the creator of the sacrament of anointing, but then the story screeches to a halt with no description of how we, too, can follow in her footsteps and become Myrrhophore Anointers ourselves. When Cynthia Bourgeault, author of The Meaning of Mary Magdalene and a lifelong student of all things Magdalene, was on my radio show, I asked her how Magdalene anointed. Cynthia said she had no idea.

At first, I was annoyed. What do you mean, you don’t know? You wrote the book on the Magdalene. And called it the Meaning of Mary Madgalene. And at the core of her meaning, her story, her purpose is sacred anointing. It is she, and only she, who anointed her beloved into the core purpose and meaning of his life.

I’ve been wanting to know more about Magdalene, the ancient lineage of Myrrhophores, the sacred oils, and the sacrament of anointing for a long time. And now, thanks to a startling revelation from the ancient labyrinth, I am ready.

I feel like I did when I said yes to redefining prayer. Terrified but also thrilled—thrilled—to free prayer from the constraints imposed by patriarchal religion. But this time I’m not terrified. Just thrilled.

And the timing could not be more perfect.

Do you know what happened yesterday? On Saturday, Jupiter met Uranus in Taurus. Now, if you’re not obsessed with astrology, that might not mean much. So here’s a condensed version:

  • Taurus is earth, embodiment, all the luscious gifts of being alive in a body
  • Jupiter is the planet of expansion, amplifying everything he touches including faith and beliefs
  • Uranus is the planet of awakening, bringing radical new electric possibilities
  • This conjunction plants a seed that will grow for the next 13.5 years

Put it all together and we are alive at a moment of awakening to what’s possible in our personal lives and in the collective.

But, before we can welcome the new, we must let go of the old. Sometimes, even when the old things were once sweet and precious and important.

This is exactly where I am. I am called now to create a truly radical prayer intensive on our original WitchArt gift of Myrrhophore anointing and complete the entire The Witch Sequence.

And that requires my total attention and devotion.

So I’m releasing six prayer intensives that I loved. These six fed me and formed me in 2020 and 2021. They prepared me to receive the call to become a Mystic Witch.

  1. The Long Story of Our Souls—deep exploration into reincarnation
  2. The 15 Mysteries of Joan of Arc—profound insights into the life of the great mystic witch
  3. Take Back the Magic, Take Back the Dead—how to work with the dead
  4. The Radical Path of Shechinah Revealed in the Tree of Life—delicious introduction to Kabbalah with Rabbi Tirzah Firestone
  5. Labyrinth: Your Embodied Pathway to Rebirth—a delightful, totally fun, introduction to the wonders of the labyrinth
  6. The Radical Path of the Rosary—the ancient Goddess hiding in plain sight in the rosary

You will find these six in a new 4th column on my intensive page labeled LAST Chance Intensives.

Perhaps there's something in these prayer intensives that will help you listen to what wants to be created right now.

Jupiter and Uranus may be offering them to you as an electric, expansive gift.

There's nothing like these intensives anywhere else. May them be as transformative a gift for you as they have been for me.

to welcoming what wants to be heard in this magical cosmic season of change
