Week 29--in which Mary Magdalene's FIERCE VOICE shakes Emma Kupu to her core

Friends, soul writers, mystics, witches, and lovers of prayer,

My dear friend and sister-witch collaborator, Emma Kupu Mitchell, and I have partnered on dozens of prayer intensives. Emma is my go-to on all things related to the symbolic languages of:

• shamanic astrology—how celestial energies express themselves in our bodies and our lives
• depth numerology—how to uncover the magical way words harbor numeric wisdom beneath the surface
• chakras—how to work with ancient Vedic wisdom, older and far more vast than any of our patriarchal religions

• plant medicine—how to work with the ancient healing power of oils, the wisdom of the Myrrhophore lineage

So, of course, Emma and I, along with our sister-witch and brilliant artist and oracle, Cathy Stevens Pratt, have worked intimately for three months to bring A.R.T. 4 on Myrrhophore Anointing to life. The synergy of our three very different mystic gifts is producing an intensive like none other.

But we are not in charge. Oh no! We are all three fed by, led by, taught by, and rather dramatically pushed by Mary Magdalene.

Mary Magdalen is the heart of this intensive. And why not: A.R.T. 4 unfolds as we walk the fourth circuit of the labyrinth: the heart chakra path.

I always ask my collaborators to write a message to the readers of these Notes from the Field. So I asked Emma if she’d like to write today’s newsletter. Emma said, “Let me go to the Heiau (sacred temple land on Oahu) and ask Mary Magdalene what she wants me to say.”

The next day Emma sent this:

Mary Magdalene speaks LOUDLY

I’ve been so honored to have blended and co-created sacred oils for Janet’s communities for the last 10 years. I create these oils with my greatest guide, mentor, and Myrrhophore teacher, Mary Magdalene, who whispers her wisdom on the vibration of which oils to blend together. It has been a beautiful loving relationship for years.

However, at the end of May, I was taken aback when tuning into which essential oils wanted to be in the new Cariad blend for A.R.T. 4 on Myrrhophore Anointing. As I listened to the insights and messages from Magdalene, as I always do at the Heiau (sacred temple land) on Oahu, I soon realized this was not one of our usual chats.

This time Magdalene’s guidance was SO DIFFERENT.

This was NOT one of the gentle conversations we’ve previously had. It felt like a nonnegotiable demand.

Once home in my sacred space, I decided to blend the oils I’d been told to use and, like I always do, tested the blend on myself. I let it sit on my skin for a few moments to allow all of the notes of each oil to settle. Then I took a sniff. WOW! Immediately my third eye began vibrating. The experience was intense! I thought this Cariad blend was too powerful and I wanted to make a change, adjust the blend just a little.

HOWEVER, I heard in my left ear: “There are to be no changes to the vibration of this blend!” Her voice was fierce. She finished with a firm: “Now is the TIME!”

Not really knowing what this meant, other than that I had been instructed to NOT change the Cariad blend, I was immediately humbled, and to be honest a little shocked. I had never experienced this energy from Mary Magdalene before. I clearly understood the Cariad blend HAD to remain as she told me.

I then slowly began to realize that my 36+ years of experience and certifications in aromatherapy and working with essential oils was about to take on a deeper and whole new way of working with the oils. A whole new understanding—a remembering, really—of an ancient lineage that we know to be the wisdom of the Myrrhophores.

Up to now, I had only read about these Mistresses of the Oils or Temple Priestesses in Felicity Warner’s book, Sacred Oils. But I now sensed that the A.R.T. 4 intensive and the Cariad blend is an initiation into what the Myrrohphore sacred work is really about.

Felicity writes “You gain entry to the temples through dreams, trances, sounds, symbols, vibrations, and of course smell, taught by the oils themselves because they’re the teachers of divine intelligence.”

When Emma describes the fierce voice of Mary Magdalene, WHO do you see?

Do you have an image of the face behind that voice? I do. And I think this is the perfect moment to share it with you.

Last week, I asked Cathy if she could tune into Mary Magdalene and ask if she’d like her portrait done. Cathy has some kind of magical ability to see what her eyes do not see. Her cosmic portraits are like none other.

Even though I love everyone Cathy has painted, I confess I had some trepidation about this portrait.

I felt instinctively that none of the hundreds of paintings of Magdalene capture her truth. All those paintings of her as a penitent woman, contemplating death, or bowing at Yeshua’s feet just perpetuate the lies the church has conjured up around her.

So, if none of those portraits are correct…who is she?

Cathy entered her sacred cave, asked Mary Magdalene if she wished to be seen, and painted what the Magdalen showed her. When Cathy sent this portrait, my whole body shook in recognition.
