Abracadabra!

A Winter Solstice prayer experience in the Theatre of the Miraculous
with Rabbi Tirzah Firestone, astrologer Emma Kupu Mitchell, and prayer artist Janet Conner

abracadabra with hebrew!

What is Abracadabra! A Winter Solstice Experience?

This Winter Solstice is and always has been honored as a sacred tipping point in the waxing and waning of light, of time, of seasons, and of lives. At this portal, the Light of Shechinah—Our Lady, Sophia, Hecate…whatever name you love—spills starlight into our bodies and asks us to fertilize it with our prayers and our tears.

The Solstice was always a community event. In ancient times, we gathered in tombs and stone cathedrals to welcome the return of the Light. Today, in a world swirling with chaos and Covid, we are once more feeling this call to gather in an intentional community to experience the power of the Solstice.

Join Rabbi Tirzah, Emma Kupu, and me as we come together in the Theatre of the Miraculous to close another paradoxical year that has been filled with wonder and joy and yet, at the same time, so much strife and suffering and death. What can we birth of such a mysterious soup?

As the Hebraic mystical Kabbalistic incantation of Abracadabra! tells us: I speak and thus I create.

But who is speaking? Who is creating? What is being spoken? What is being birthed? Ah, such questions! Let us gather in prayer listening for how we can be the vehicles to magnify the Shechinah's loving intentions on earth.

The Solstice ask us to ponder:

  • What wants to be released from 2021?
  • What are my highest aspirations for 2022?
What will I pray to give form to?
  • How will I welcome the Divine Feminine to move in and through and as me?

In sacred ceremony, guided meditations, and astrological teachings about how the celestial powers are influencing and guiding us, we will....

  • release the fatigue, disappointments, and inertia of 2021
  • review the past year and harvest its soul lessons
  • focus our intentions for the gifts of life coming our way
  • attune ourselves to the Shechinah's desires for us and the work ahead

Rabbi Tirzah will give us a magical ritual and ceremony to complete on the actual Solstice Day.

But the real magic happens through Her divine force. Her Voice. Her Love. In the Theatre of the Miraculous, we return again and again to this mystical truth: you are not praying, you are being prayed.

Celestial Season

Emma will help us open to the big magic arriving to support us through three big celestial events. In addition to the full moon in Gemini on the 19th:

  1. Venus is going retrograde on the 19th. Venus is guiding our values, the power of our love and our sacred heart magic.
  2. Saturn and Uranus have their final square on Dec 24, culmination of all of 2021, the crescendo, the faceoff between authority and the magic of freedom.
  3. Jupiter moves into Pisces on Dec 28—giving us a glimpse of what's to come in April 2022 at the conjunction with Neptune which hasn’t happened since 1856. Neptune is about dreams, imagination, spirituality, your mystical connection to true magic of the Sacred Feminine.

Rabbi Tirzah Firestone

Rabbi Tirzah Firestone, Ph.D., is an author, Jungian psychotherapist, and founding rabbi of Congregation Nevei Kodesh in Boulder, Colorado. Ordained by Rabbi Zalman Schachter Shalomi in 1992, she is a leader in the international Jewish Renewal Movement and a renowned Jewish scholar and teacher. Tirzah earned a master's degree in counseling at Beacon College in Boston, Massachusetts, and a doctorate in depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California.

Her cutting-edge research on the impact and healing of collective trauma draws on the fields of neuroscience, psychology, Jewish literature, and mythopoesis. Her groundbreaking work, Wounds Into Wisdom: Healing Intergenerational Trauma (Monkfish, 2019), employs interviews, case studies, and her own autobiographical narratives to demonstrate how trauma passes from generation to generation and how it can be transformed. Wounds Into Wisdom received the 2020 Nautilus Book Award Gold in Psychology and the Jewish Women's Caucus of the Association for Women in Psychology 2020 book award.

Janet Conner

Janet Conner is a prayer artist, mystic witch, deep soul explorer, field guide in The Mystic, and mistress of the threshold between worlds—the mystical theta brain wave state. But first and always, Janet is a devoted daughter of the Feminine Divine and Original Prayer. In 2020, Janet was called to acknowledge that she is—and probably always has been—a mystic witch. Upon receiving this awareness, Janet enthusiastically embraced the sacred call to transmute witch from a word that strikes terror into a title that awakens a bone-deep memory of walking in wonder in a world that is sacred, beautiful, and alive. In June 2021, she launched a truly radical prayer experience, The Return of The Witches: Jeanne d’Arc Listening Novena.

Janet’s first book, Writing Down Your Soul, became a bestseller, followed by The Lotus and The Lily, Soul Vows, Find Your Soul’s Purpose and more. When “Prayer Artist” came calling in February of 2018, Janet found herself writing a whole new genre of prayer as love songs, redefining prayer altogether, and leading radical prayer intensives with fellow female mystics. She launched the Praying at the Speed of Love podcast to host intimate conversations with authors and teachers about their private prayer lives. Although she can hear the trees in the Hudson River Valley whispering her name, for now Janet lives with silence, solitude, and joy in the tiny town of Ozona, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico.
