2024 a year of sacred memory, dreaming dragons, and original prayer

Week 44--in which we heed Scorpio's command to free our essence spark. Perfect for 44/8: as above, so below!

Friends, soul writers, mystics, witches, and lovers of prayer,

This is a difficult Notes from the Field for me to write. The air around me is fraught with fear. I have not been able to sleep. My mind races. My heart stumbles. My stomach lurches.

All week I have asked myself what I can possibly say to you on this last Sunday before the US election to help your mind and your heart calm down, when my own is swirling.

Usually, I receive clues in the night for what to write in my Sunday letters. But this week, when I look at my yellow pad in the morning, it’s blank. But that doesn’t mean there is no guidance. In fact, I believe I have received particularly powerful guidance this week for this important Notes from the Field.

But first, let’s look at this word: the field.

Have you ever wondered what that field is? Or where it is? Or why I even call my Sunday letters by that rather odd title.

It started in 2018.

After I heard a feminine divine voice whisper prayer artist in my left ear that February, I decided to focus my weekly radio show on one topic and one topic only: prayer. I asked every guest to talk about how they prayed. As the interview was ending, I asked them to define prayer. They were all surprised. No one had ever asked them to define prayer.

But guess what happened? Every guest offered a definition. And each one was different, very different. I asked because I was trying to get my hands around what prayer meant. And I thought these wise authors might help me cobble together a “unified field of prayer.”

I never did settle on language for that unified field.

Pretty quickly, I realized that once you extricate prayer from the constrictions of religion, it is a deeply personal experience with endless expressions.

So I called this newsletter Notes from the Field.

Each Sunday felt like sending and receiving little missives, letters, postcards about prayer sent by…, well, sent by prayer. Because prayer is alive. One of my seven definitions is that prayer is a living relationship. When you pray you are in a relationship with prayer and with everyone who has ever prayed. I’ve now been sending and receiving notes from prayer for six years. And I’m here to say she’s quite the pen pal.

So, on this 44th Sunday of 2024, prayer had a few surprises for me. And for you.

First, prayer got me invited to Debbra Lupien’s Prayer-a-Thon. At noon today, Debbra will introduce me and play an hour long interview about my relationship with prayer that she and I recorded last week.

Then, I’ll lead everyone in a LIVE non-verbal prayer practice I’m calling “Remember My Essence.”

The name of the prayer was inspired by the Chandra for the Scorpio New Moon on November 1 that is directing the energy for this wild month. I’m going to read the entire Chandra in the Prayer-a-Thon, but here are a few highlights from Inside Degrees by Ellias Lonsdale.

• Destructive patterns come around to regenerative places…with an eye toward the destructive patterns destroying themselves.
• When the misery and hatred have spent their wastage and their fury, the inner-core self arises unscathed, and incorporates the darkness and anguish into the ability to…generate miracles, to face the unfaceable.
• There is something burning at the center of your being, an essence spark which is immortal and can survive and flourish in the thick of the worst, your own potent inner light guiding your journey and never flickering.

Doesn't this sound exactly like the hate and vitriol being spewed in this election?

It’s not an accident that a Scorpio New Moon kicked off November. Scorpio commands us to dig deep to release the toxins that poison our bodies and our psyches and our whole world.

Why now? Why do we need to get all that poison out of our bodies today, this week, this month?

Because the final weeks of 2024 are getting us ready to do our part in the birthing of the Age of Aquarius when Pluto finally settles into Aquarius and stays there until 2043. We are standing at a pregnant threshold. Are we ready? Based on the things being said in this election, it sure doesn’t look like it.

Hence Scorpio’s command: end the toxicity and end it now! Can there be a more potent and clear command for election week in America.

And what could happen if we do the deep work? In today’s Daily Astro Alert astrologer Michael Lennox gives us a peek into the possible future:

“The Age of Aquarius promises Peace for Humanity, and a world in which every last human on the planet is cared for. But it starts with each of us, on the inside of our psyche. The world will turn, politics and governments will do what they will do. But until more of us on the planet are willing to die to self in order to be reborn as more whole and complete, we will not see that peace. Do your part with this lunar cycle by asking yourself, what needs to transform in order for me to be a good shepherd of the human experience into the future? Then allow that change to take place, and let’s join together and create Peace for Humanity, at last.”

And that, in a nutshell is the call, the command, the quest for this week, this election, this lunar cycle, and this potent time of completing 2024 so we can seed a beautiful 2025.

• When The Lotus and the Lily opens on Tuesday November 12, the first thing we’ll do is look back at all we have released in the first twelve days of this fertile Scorpio cycle.
• Then we'll listen deeply to our unscathed “inner-core self” begin to sing her unique prayer of peace, harmony, and love.

When we step back from the chaos of this election, acknowledge what we are being asked to do, and commit to doing our part to create a beautiful mosaic to birth a new epoch, then this moment is transformed from scary to sacred.

• To complete 2024, we will release all our destructive patterns with two powerful forgiveness practices
• To welcome 2025, we will create a mystic mandala that holds our essence spark, shines our inner light, and expresses our contribution to guide ourselves and our world safely home.

Knowing the importance and power of what we're being asked to do completely transforms this election week for me. And I hope for you.

I see it now as the death throes of the Age of Pisces with all its war and domination. And simultaneously, the birth pangs of the Age of Aquarius.

That view changes everything. And settles my heart. And reminds me of the power and importance of The Lotus and the Lily prayer intensive.
