What happens when prayer has transcendental power?

Theme: Magicians Reporting for Duty

Week 33: What happens when prayers hold original transcendental power?

Beautiful Magicians,

When mystic oracle and artist, Cathy Stevens Pratt, and Minotaur-initiated shaman, Tony Goncalves, and I opened Praying in the Dark: How Visionaries Pray in a Time of Collapse in July, we described the purpose on the registration page this way:

“A radical new 28-day prayer intensive inaugurating the first and only rosary completely untethered from religion; one that sings of our original masculine-feminine partnership. This unique rosary—The Song of the Morning of the World—holds the transcendental power and vision we need to carry us through the rough transition from suffering under patriarchy into a whole and holy way of living with reverence and devotion for all.”

But now, after praying the 7 couplets and the entire The Song of the Morning of the World rosary for several weeks, we have a whole new understanding of what transcendental power and vision mean. Whatever ideas we had when we wrote that description turned out to be small, way too small, for what actually happened.

I’ll share some discoveries in a minute, but first I want to explain the use of the term transcendental power.

Cathy and I did not come up with that. That phrase came from the Masters and Teachers of the Akashic Record in a long consultation on December 30, 2019. I had turned to them because I was in a quandary: I wanted to pray the rosary but I couldn’t bear the prayers I was taught as a child.

The Masters and Teachers understood and explained my confusion. They said:

“The real original purpose of the rosary was to induce a transcendental state of consciousness. The meaning was altered to take the power away by it being a way to serve the worship of a god versus an altered-state transcendence activity that opens one up to other realms. It was always originally a self-empowerment tool of transcendence.” (my italics)

The Masters and Teachers then described a group of men talking and planning and deciding to keep the rosary, because they couldn’t get people to stop praying it. (They didn’t need to tell me who those men were.) But, the Masters and Teachers said, the men changed the prayers to “shift the consciousness outside of instead of inside it.” Their plan worked and within “several generations there were no people living with the original intent.” The real rosary “had to go underground” they said, “and now it’s surfacing thanks to souls like yourself.”

Well, Masters and Teachers, it’s taken me six and a half years to finally partner with Cathy and Tony to create a rosary that holds that transcendental power.

So I’m late, but at last I’m here. And so are many others joining us to pray in this dark season at the end of patriarchy.

Everyone in that intensive was flabbergasted by how different this rosary is, whether they had ever prayed a rosary, or this was their first experience with beads.

The community got together every week in prayer cafes to talk about how it feels to hold that transcendental power and sense it opening places in our hearts, and minds, and bodies that have not been touched by prayer before.

There were so many discoveries. Here are a few things people said about the new rosary:

  • this is completely different, praying without religion is a new experience
  • there are no words for this, I have no words
  • this is rich, real, and raw
  • this practice is rearranging my brain
  • these prayers are alive, they make ripples
  • these prayers can actually heal the world

Our café chats often centered around our experiences with the Couplets.

Because there is nothing, nothing, like the Couplets in any prayer practice in any tradition. The rosary begins and ends reciting seven Couplets that describe healed, whole, and holy relationships.

As we enter the rosary Compassion states a need and Strength comes forward to support that need in language we simply have not heard before. Then after we pray the Five Blooms that heal the crimes of patriarchy, we repeat the Couplets, but this time Strength states the need and Compassion supports. Listening to those Couplets change roles upends any assumptions we might have about masculine and feminine roles or relationships.

Here are some discoveries people made about the Couplets:

  • tears—everyone said they began to cry as they spoke the couplets
  • a whole new way to pray for someone
  • perfect prayer to bless work and creative partners
  • surprise to discover that praying compassion is easier than strength or vice versa
  • for the first time I feel whole in myself
  • it’s so unusual to state a need and then to be supported

We concluded that this rosary and the Couplets have endless applications and possibilities. These prayers are changing us at depth.

There was one discovery in particular that happened to me that I want to share with you because it is changing my life. I mean that literally.

It happened one morning when I spoke the couplets aloud by myself. I spoke them slowly, chewing on the words and letting them enter my body, as if I were digesting them. It was a beautiful experience, but one I didn’t realize would turn out to be a pivotal before and after moment.

That night, I slept well. I had no stress in my dreams, which was unusual. I woke refreshed. Alert. Happy. For no apparent reason, I was joyful, peaceful. I asked myself what was different. And realized I felt safe. Not because of anything happening out there, but safe in my self.

I realized: oh, this is what it feels like to be safe.

As I got out of bed, I put on my Song of the Morning of the World rosary and said aloud, “I hear echoes of the song of the morning of the world and I listen.” And I listened for a moment. And had the sudden awareness that I WAS hearing echoes of the songs of the morning of the world, from not just the past, but also from the future. How is that possible! How can I possibly be feeling and hearing the peace that comes after patriarchy collapses. The peace that comes with safety.

I have no explanation, except that I did.

And that feeling, that calmness, that joy, that sense of being safe has stayed with me. Since the first time I spoke the Couplets aloud, my dreams have stayed peaceful. My sleep has been restful. My body is calm. My heart is afire with love and possibility.

When we had our closing Sunday café, we were talking about the magic of the Couplets, and Tony suddenly said, “When people feel safe, patriarchy falls apart.” My whole body shook in recognition: This is the subtitle and the purpose of our second Praying in the Dark intensive!

With the poignant subtitle in hand, Cathy and I began to explore big questions:

  1. Why is safety the primary barometer of the collapse of patriarchal systems?
  2. What is safety?
  3. What underlies safety? What makes safety possible?
  4. How can we cultivate safety in ourselves, our relationships, our environments, our work…
  5. What can the Minotaur teach us about the nature of true safety?

Praying in the Dark: When People Feel Safe, Patriarchy Falls Apart is now open for registrations.

We hope you get excited reading about what we are going to experience and discover together. We meet for four Tuesdays starting September 15. Follow the link for full schedule and details.

Praying in the Dark--Minotaur

Please note there is one pre-requisite. Well, OK, two.

  1. First, please take the first intensive, Praying in the Dark: How Visionaries Pray in a Time of Collapse. It’s now available On Demand at a crazy-low fee of $88. Take it so you begin to experience the beauty and power of the Couplets for yourself, get comfortable with the radically different theology-free prayers on this rosary, learn the five crimes of patriarchy and the Five Blooms that heal them, get to know the real timeline of human history, and get a first taste for our guides: Hecate, Minotaur, Corn, and the Bees.
  2. The second pre-requisite is an open heart and a deep desire to bring more joy and safety into the world—starting with yourself!

I'm pretty sure you've got the second pre-requisite covered. After all, we are people who care. people who pray. People who are willing to see in the dark.

All the way to the demise of patriarchal structures.

All the way to safety and love.

Life is fragile, handle with reverence
and powerful transcendental prayer
